The Katie Gartland School of Music is dedicated to helping students of all ages and levels discover their love for music. We believe that music has the power to transform lives and bring joy to our students. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn a new instrument or an experienced musician seeking to take your skills to the next level, we have something for everyone. We can't wait to help you unleash your inner musician!

Katie Gartland

Katie Gartland has been teaching music for over 5 years. She began playing music when she was 10 years old and has been singing for as long as she can remember.

Katie studied music in college and graduated from Maynooth in 2019 with a Bachelor of Music. While studying in Maynooth, she began teaching piano in the Drumcondra area. She also did a Masters of Journalism in DCU.


After teaching music part-time for 4 years, she decided to turn it into a full-time career. Some of her career highlights have been the Spring Recital in 2022 and expanding the music school in September of the same year.

Katie has since moved the Music School into a new studio space and brought on fantastic teachers to work alongside her, enjoying every step of the process along the way!

Thomas grant

Thomas Grant has had wide experience at the Artane School of Music and has played with orchestras including the Dublin Youth Orchestra, Greystones Orchestra, Trinity Orchestra, Irish Symphonic Wind Orchestra, The Esker Festival Orchestra and the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble!

He studied trumpet, piano and music theory through the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and works as a freelance musician at events including weddings and corporate parties across the country.

Tom is a highly trained multi-instrumentalist and performer, who teaches his own key skills and love of music in every lesson.

sorcha brougham

Sorcha Brougham is a young musician who is currently studying for her final year for a BA in music in Trinity College, Dublin.
Sorcha plays classical violin and traditional fiddle, harp and also plays the piano. Her proficiency on the keyboard continues to be a component of her own academic career!

Sorcha is grounded in the traditional Irish music genre having been an active member of Beaumont Comhaltas Ceoltóirí na hEireann for many years, performing as a solo player and part of groups at Fleadh Ceoil and in music festivals such as the Creative Connections Sitges Festival.

Sorcha uses her unique combination of Irish Traditional and Classical music training in her teaching to get the most out of students in every lesson.

Daniel grant

Dan began his musical journey at a young age in the Artane School of Music and has since played with a broad range ensembles including the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble, Trinity Orchestra, Irish Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Dublin Youth Orchestra and Greystones Orchestra. With these groups and others, he has performed at venues and events including the National Concert Hall, Electric Picnic, The Cork Jazz Festival and the Mid-Europe Festival in Austria, as well as at various weddings and corporate events.

Dan has studied trumpet and piano through the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, and guitar through Rockschool.

Jack Martin

Jack Martin is a multi instrumentalist who has recently completed his BA in Music from Trinity College Dublin.

Jack has studied various genres of guitar and piano for over a decade. He has a wide range of experience with session work and live performance playing with various musical outfits, most notably the band ‘Fizzy Orange’ who have played at many prominent Irish and UK venues and festivals.

Jack has been teaching music for over two years. He uses his own knowledge and experience of performance in each lesson and enjoys incorporating the key interests of every individual student. By combining various practical and theory-based skills, he explores many potential routes in musicianship for beginner and more advanced students.


Andrea Jones

Andrea is a passionate and experienced musician from Dublin with several years of experience playing across a wide range of styles and genres.
She is a saxophone, clarinet and piano player, adept at writing and arranging music. She received an ‘honourable mention’ and an award of bespoke mentorship from Improvised Music Company's BAN BAM composition award in 2023 and graduated from
DCU’s Bachelor of Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance with tenor saxophone
as main instrument receiving first class honours.
Andrea plays a vast range of music styles and performs her original compositions in
many reputable venues and festivals such as Bray Jazz Festival, The Workman’s Club,
The Sofa Sessions at Billy Byrnes and Yamamori Tengu.
Andrea enjoys teaching students as well as supporting them with preparation for exams and live performances. She brings forth a self motivated attitude and a lifelong love and commitment to music.
